Ji Kien was admitted to a children’s home, Hiichiikok Foundation, where for the first time, he had the space and support to focus entirely on his studies. He was significantly behind his peers, having missed three crucial years of schooling. But what he lacked in formal education, he made up for in raw willpower and dedication.
The home provided the nurturing environment he desperately needed, and Ji Kien seized the opportunity with both hands. He studied with an intensity born of purpose, determined to bridge the gap. His hard work culminated in the SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) examination, where he achieved a remarkable feat: passing every single subject with results that included 2 As, 3 Bs, 2 Cs, and 1 D.
His success, however, was just the beginning. Inspired by his journey, the founder of the children’s home, Tan Sri Clement Hii, stepped forward to offer Ji Kien a fully sponsored place in a Foundation in Arts program. This act of selfless generosity was the key that unlocked the next door. Ji Kien successfully completed his foundation studies and has now embarked on his first year of Degree in Quantity Surveying at Segi University Kota Damansara, once again with the full sponsorship of Tan Sri Clement Hii.
